About Fun Libs
Who makes it
Fun Libs is made by Whimsical Works, the name Hallvard Hetlelid and Asgeir Albretsen publish Fun Libs under. It started as a phone app and is now also a website, funlibs.app, that shares the same accounts, stories and purchases with the app on Android and iPhone. We write the Fun Libs stories ourselves, run the community, and answer the support email.
What you can do here
- Play stories. Pick a story from Fun Libs originals or the community, fill in the words without seeing the text, then read what you made. No account needed.
- Play together. Party mode passes one phone or laptop around a group, and every word is colored by the person who wrote it. See how to play.
- Write your own. Anyone with a free account can write a story and share it with friends or with every Fun Libs player.
- Have AI write one. Describe what you want a story to be about and Fun Libs AI writes a new one with blanks in it. Free accounts get 2 a month.
- Play a themed pack. Story packs collect fifteen stories around one theme, like Christmas, weddings or history, written by us.
Why we make it
Fill-in-the-blank stories are one of the few games that work for any age and any group: a family at the dinner table, a classroom, friends on a long drive, or someone giving a speech at a wedding. There’s nothing to learn beyond what a noun is, and the funniest player is often the one who tried least. We wanted a version that’s free, works on any device, and has new stories every day instead of the same few pages.
Keeping it friendly
Any player’s story can be reported from the ⋯ menu on the story, and reports come straight to us. Player stories with offensive words in them are kept out of search engines. If you see something that shouldn’t be here, please tell us.
How it’s paid for
Fun Libs is free to play. It’s paid for by ads on the site and in the app, and by optional purchases. You can remove ads, buy story packs, or get Fun Libs Plus for more AI stories, and anything you buy on funlibs.app also works in the app. The details are in our terms and privacy policy.
